Description

“Balanced depth with a subtle bite — Isuzu Matcha.”

This matcha features a refreshing aroma, astringent notes, mellow umami, and a hint of bitterness—ideal for thin tea (usucha). It also pairs beautifully with milk or cream for lattes and confectionery.

Recommended for:

・Those who appreciate a matcha with balanced bitterness and umami.

・Users brewing thin tea (usucha) or experimenting with matcha in lattes.

・Anyone seeking a versatile matcha for both traditional and modern preparations.

How to prepare (Usucha):

1. Sift ~1.5–2 g of matcha into a warmed bowl.

2. Add ~70 ml hot water (~80°C).

3. Whisk briskly until fine froth forms.

Store in a cool, dark place.

Isuzu Marukyu Koyamaen Matcha

I have been pondering whether to buy this matcha since it has been super hard to find (and quite expensive). I pulled the trigger and got the 100g bag. I'm just an amateur matcha drinker, so I can't offer expert comments. I like my matcha on the more umami and bitter side, I also like to drink my matcha with whole milk so I can taste more of the matcha profile without the overwhelming flavor from oat milk. This matcha is very smooth and creamy, slight on the umami side. I don't really taste any astringency in lattes. I do add a little bit of agave (5ml), and it's not too sweet. It froths up nicely and has such a nice fragrance. It is definitely a matcha that I will savor slowly!!
