How to Store Matcha

  1. Refrigeration/freezing is effective for preserving freshness only before opening the package. However, cold matcha absorbs moisture in the room and deteriorates rapidly, so be sure to bring it to room temperature before opening the package.
     The freshness of matcha is very important. After opening the package, store it in a cool, dark place and drink it as soon as possible. However, if the tea is frequently taken in and out, there is a risk of absorbing moisture and odors from inside and outside the storage.


    Handling of Matcha (regarding lumps)

  2. Matcha is dried thoroughly and ground finely to ensure high quality, so it is prone to static electricity and may become lumpy when brewed as is. This can also be caused by the tea sinking under its own weight during storage. It is recommended to sift the matcha with a matcha sieve or tea strainer just before serving, so that the tea can be served smoothly and successfully.
